=RAF=™ Squad Meeting 3/11/99
GUEST SPEAKER: Dot 2 (Shooter) <XO> of the DOTS Squadron
=RAF= <CO> Bandit: Dot2 I would ask for a brief description of the DOTS... =RAF= <CO> Bandit: the floor is yours Shooter Shooter <XO>=D.O.T.S=: thanks for having me here JIM ...< S > ...=RAF= <CO> Bandit: your most welcome < S > Shooter Shooter <XO>=D.O.T.S=: Well, 1st of all I'd like to say how i became a part of Aw .....if i could ..=RAF= <CO> Bandit: we would be delighted Shooter Shooter <XO>=D.O.T.S=: Back in '93, I became part of the OLD AW ... brand new, didn't know anything 'bout ww2 planes or tactics ... but me and a friend, Smoker <DOT1> started together ... I met a guy who helped me out, his name was Vandal. At the time he was part of a Squad called -DoW- 'Dogs of War'. After flyin with me for a bit he said he would talk to his CO bout getting me in.This helped me a lot in my early days.. there I learned the meaning of SQUAD! I flew not alone ... but with guys who were willing to HELP me out with anything i needed ... much of what you have now ... I became really close with all the guys and this created a whole new game for me. But eventually i had to stop playing ... You see, back then we had to pay $2 an hour to play. After many months of breaking $100 bucks .........:P Anyways ... I started back up on AOL (Dos) my old squad was playin somewhere else. So it was just me and Smoker again, we never really joined anybody again. But finally, (after many requests from people wanting help from us) I decided to create -- what to me -- 'the Ultimate Squad!' I thought for days... Finally coming up with =D.O.T.S.= But more important than what is was called, was what "IT STOOD FOR!" The funny thing is, our squad ended up being made up of 80% of our ENEMY'S ... people who we had fought a lot and built a respect for. Those guys really appreciated our style; having seen what teamwork could accomplish 1st hand... Three people working together is like six individuals! Next, I changed the cpid; I wanted us all to be the same. I didn't want people saying, "Shooter is great, and smoker..." I wanted them to say, "WOW, them DOTS are good -- as a whole!" They don't even care which DOT got 'em, they just know it was a DOT! I ran into =JIM= some time ago... =RAF= <FLB> JOKE: ? Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: Go ahead Joke=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: DOTS stands for what?? Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: Hehe=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: hehe Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: "Defenders Of The Skies "=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: thanksShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: nother thing I think JIM wanted me to mention is bout the trash talkers on Ch1. You see, early on I decided to keep my guys tuned outta that crap! The people that talkin' on 1 are playin a different game than you or I. They playin that I'm better than everybody in here Game ... I personally think that channel 1 is for compliments, and respect. And that's it' so misused it's not worth listening to. I really think JIM is doin' an exceptional JOB with the =RAF= .... he seems to have all the right mindsets of what a Squad is all about. i know i fight some of you guys in PAC sometimes ... but I feel like you and I will both be MORE impressed by flying side by side someday. You see, I'm more impressed by somebody that can keep me alive than someone who can kill me ... I would rather be the best Wingman in the game, than the best Pilot.13th SAS Rev.MAX: hear..hearShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: I have many films where I go into severely outnumbered fights with Smoker or another DOT ... where 2 people that are in the same mindset .....which is ... "watch your wingman's ass!" The enemy's mindset is, "how many kills are mine?" It's not hard to win a 2 on 5 like this, + every pilot has HIS own talent and should utilize it for the benefit of the squad. You know, our Squad is like Jeff Gordon... you either HATE us or you love us ..=RAF= <CO> Bandit: :-) Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: but you WILL respect us :) OK, now that I've bored ya'll, any ?'s=RAF= <A> Ol' REB: ?Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: go reb...=RAF= <A> Ol' REB: How do you train to get the best wing man?Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: Well, it's kind of weird ... you see, my wingie and best friend .. Smoker .. we have different talents, and flying styles=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: ?Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: that's what makes us good (one sec jok ..) he flys P38, me Ki. It's kind of weird combo, but works for us . Go Joke...=RAF= <A> Ol' REB: thnx=RAF= <C> Boom: ?=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: I'm in a situation now with CAGShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: also Reb, the more your wingie is different from you the better -- in my opinion.=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: He just knows what's goin on, it's weird.Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: Cool Joke, it usually takes YEARS to get like that with a wingie.=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: The best thing I've found out is to talk to your wingies and find out what they know abut the game, and there moves, then work with that.Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: right, you havta know what your guy gonna do ..=RAF=<FLB>JOKE: CAG is just experiencedShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: say you fighting 2 planes...=RAF= <A> Entity: ?Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: yes NTT ?=RAF= <A> Entity: for real new players like myself are there training squads that take ppl into something like a ground school?=RAF= <CO> Bandit: I can answer that one shooter... =RAF= <A> Entity: patient with teaching the game as well as the flying=RAF= <CO> Bandit: NTT... you're being trained right now... Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: Bud you gettin better training ... right now, than I've ever seen...=RAF= <A> Entity: ah=RAF= <CO> Bandit: everyday u will learn something new -- as time permits, under the circumstances. =RAF= <A> Ol' REB: here--here=RAF= <A> Entity: just dont want to be a burden=RAF= <B> Cage: that you will never beShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: NTT just goin up and dueling people aint gonna teach ya nothin..=RAF= <CO> Bandit: the =RAF= takes on mostly new pilots =RAF=<FLB>JOKE: never=RAF= <CO> Bandit: for just that reason ... to teach what we as vets already know =RAF=<FLC>Mustang: WE ALL WERE THERE NTT ... Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: also NTT ... nother thing bout being new ..=RAF= <A> Entity: I learned the auger kinda fastShooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: I've found this to be true with EVERY pilot I know; including me ..=RAF= <A> Entity: OK, cause I tried the ms zone but there... Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: after you get pretty good, you hit a point where you cant seem to get ...=RAF= <A> Entity: all they do is pounce on new players to up the kills Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: ...any better... I mean, improve certain moves. You just struggle ... I mean, people killin ya. Then, if ya hang in there, you will get better! There's always SOMETHIN to learn ... even Strategy and tactics. Hardest thing to do is, Gettin ALL your guys home alive! Being the DOTS flight leader I know this well.=RAF= <CO> Bandit: If I may... That's always been my main objective ... to run a mission and bring all you guys home -- to the man =RAF=<FLB>JOKE: ??=RAF= <CO> Bandit: that's why I stress S*T*A*C*K The closer we stay together and cover each other, the better our odds of survival; no matter the circumstances. Damn I'm good=RAF= <C> Boom: lol =RAF=<FLB>JOKE: then I under estimate the enemy, " BOOM" I'm dead! I'm the Ki pilot ... but what about him ?=RAF=<FLC>Mustang: cuz he a good pilot but in the end I always get him I was wondering if he was new to the Ki? As for DOT14... he has a history himself :) A lot of the members of the DOTS are vets... =RAF=<FLC>Mustang: do they get there # from time of sign up?Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: DOT14 was in the -DoW- ... back in 93 with me=RAF= <CO> Bandit: ...or have started playin AW again after an extend leave from the game Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: yes, they do, in order of appearance =RAF=<FLC>Mustang: they never up w/o a wingee I noticed too=RAF= <CO> Bandit: if I may again shooter? Shooter<XO>=D.O.T.S=: yes Jim=RAF= <CO> Bandit: DOT14 (Steel Horse)... I remember when I first met him ... under the cpid -SH- I was flyn against him, and, I complimented him on his prowess in the 38 =RAF=<FLB>JOKE: ?=RAF= <CO> Bandit: he told me he had been away from the game for sometime and was thinking of joining up with his old squad =RAF= <C> Inkman: ?=RAF= <CO> Bandit: I told him I didn't think they flew anymore, and proceeded to try and recruit him into the =RAF= :) But he didn't go for it.
