Timothy Gray Underwood (=UNK=)

(Oct 18): Union -- Timothy Gray Underwood, 47, of the North Union Road, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000 at his home.

Born in Highland Park, Michigan on Feb. 12, 1953, he was the son of Jesse R. Underwood and Margaret (Serpa) Miller.

He served in the U.S. Marines from 1970 to 1973 in the First Marine Air Wing and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Da-Nang, South Viet Nam. He married Susan E. VanDevender.

For the past 12 years, he was employed at Manset Marine in Rockland as a purchasing agent. He was instrumental in reestablishing the Rockland Seascouts where he served as skipper. He enjoyed researching his family genealogy and military history, scuba diving, and archery. Underwood loved animals, especially his dog and two cats.

Surviving is his wife, Susan Underwood of Union; mother, Margaret Miller and her husband, Lee Miller of Rockland; his mother-in-law, Jessie VanDevender of Port Angeles, Wash.; four brothers, Terrance Underwood and his wife, Tami of Kent, Wash.; Kelly Underwood and his wife, Cheryl of Gales Ferry, Conn.; Jesse Underwood and his wife, Bonnie of Sacramento, Calif.; David Underwood and his wife Cheryl of Lancaster, Penn.; a sister, Joanne Favenyesi and her husband, Dennis of Michigan; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Jesse R. Underwood and a brother, James P. Underwood who died on Jan. 19, 2000.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10AM, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland with the Rev. Mark Reinhardt officiating.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Knox County, Rockland, ME 04841.

Arrangements are with Laite & Pratt Funeral Directors, 9 Mountain St., Camden.
